I have taken particular interest in the setting up of this Foundation , and this is due to the experience which the whole team has gained over these years of professional activity.
On the one hand , I feel lucky to have been able to treat so many cases , and , on the other , I value the sense of satisfaction I feel when you express your delight at the results of the treatment.

This tells me that the conditions we treat deserve greater attention and study because of the results that are obtained , in terms of the patient’s health and also in terms of the benefits to the patient’s self-esteem and quality of life.

The positive economic effects on the State’s health budget would be considerable if we think about the money we could save on medical treatment not only for these conditions but also for those associated with morbid obesity and type 2 diabetes.

The results of the research we undertake are shared with other centres worldwide. This information is invaluable to us and to our patients , who benefit greatly , but there is always some aspect of our work which we can improve on.

For this reason , the main aim and activity of the Foundation is to promote research into obesity and its treatment , and to disseminate the findings to enable us to help people who suffer from this condition by increasing their understanding , and that of their family and of society as a whole , of the nature of this illness.

So , I hope we can help to bring our solutions to the 380 million people who suffer from this illness in the world.
